Common questions
Most production iOS and Android apps we build land between $80,000 and $300,000 CAD, depending on scope, hardware integration, and compliance requirements. Smaller scoped MVPs can start around $40,000. A project estimate follows a review of the available specification or codebase.
A typical single-platform mobile app takes 3 to 6 months from kickoff to App Store. Hardware-connected apps such as BLE, sensor, and EEG products take longer because they sync to firmware cycles. We start every engagement with a one-week scoping phase that produces a defensible timeline.
It depends on what the app does. For apps with BLE, sensors, sustained background work, or camera pipelines, we generally recommend native. For simpler content and forms apps that need iteration across both platforms, React Native may be appropriate. The recommendation is based on the product's technical and operational constraints.
Yes. Most of the apps we maintain were built by other teams. We start with a codebase audit during onboarding, document the architecture and risks, then take over crash monitoring, OS update testing, dependency upkeep, and the bug-fix queue.
DEVSFLOW is based in Toronto. Our seven-person team includes five people in Toronto, one in Quebec, and one in Calgary. We work with Canadian and US clients with same-day overlap across North American time zones.
We take on scoped mobile projects from six-week audits or stabilization engagements through multi-year builds. Embedded engineering placements start with a three-month commitment. We do not take on projects under a six-week runway because there is no time to do the codebase or scope work properly.
Either works. We can embed one senior mobile engineer into your existing team or put together a dedicated team to own a larger mobile project. We recommend the smallest setup that can do the work well.
A DEVSFLOW embedded engineer is $90 to $125 CAD per hour, depending on seniority and platform. Engagements are 20 or 40 hours weekly with a three-month minimum, and an engineer can typically start within one to two weeks of agreement.
A permanent search can take several months and requires additional onboarding time. An embedded engagement may suit a defined project window or a near-term capacity requirement. A full-time conversion path is also available.
